My 8 year old son is an almost perfect kid EXCEPT for the fact that he wakes up completly soaked absolutley every day! Our doctor isn't helping. It's driving us all crazy, including him. It's embarassing for him and also i just don't want to change diapers anymore.

Any advice?

  1. My Niece is 6 turning 7 next month and she wets the bed at night still.. Just put pull ups on him at night that's what my sister does and she also makes her go to the bath room be for bed and no  drinks after 8.... Good luck....

  2. it's normal, just have to get those good nights pull ups....Try not giving him anything before going to bed...possibly 1 hour before bed...if he is really thristy give him a sip of water that is all....

  3. Limit liquids 4 hours before bed.  Have him go last thing before he shuts off his light.

Wake him up 4 hours after he's fallen asleep.  Yes, you'll have to set an alarm, get up yourself, and get him up, ***BUT*** it will "re-train" his system to wake up when he needs to go.

  4. Aww.. so sorry.. Ya know, as a parent, its so hard to except these things.  I have a 4.5 yr old who just WONT potty train.  Everyone always tells me that "You never see a kid in kindergaten in diapers... Well let me tell ya.. My kid just might be the first.

I'm sorry I dont have much advice for you except limit his fluids a few hours before bed time?  Im sure you've tried that but thats all I can think of.

Oh, some people told me to make them go pee before bed.. and then wake them up in the middle of the night to go potty.. and then again first thing in the morning.

    Good Luck to you.

  5. Hi! I would agree with the others who said to limit drinks before bed, however I am sure you are already doing this. Sometimes children actually have a condition called enuresis and when this is true medical help may be necessary. If I were you I would find another doctor and get a second opinion. Tell them what you have tried already, they may have more tips for you. Good Nites are only a temporary solution-they may help your son to not be embarrassed b/c they look like boxers but this won't stop the bedwetting problem itself. I think the article (pasted below) has some good things to say, maybe you could take a look.

  6. I as a child wet the bed and I don't know if they still have it but my mom used the wee wee alert, when i would wet it would go off and kind of a scare tactic but after two times going off I never wet the bed again. My doc never helped my mom out either so this she did on her own.

  7. See another doctor.  If your son is embarassed, I don't think he's doing it for attention.  It may well be a medical problem.
