I am almost 39 weeks and yesterday after the doc appt I had some really bad cramping everywhere, in my back, my legs, my stomach. It felt like the "growing pains" you get during puberty. It lasted all day too, but it was not unbearable so i dealt with it. I also developed diarrhea. I have had all this before, but this morning my stomach is like a rock right below my b*****s. It doesn't come and go like a braxton hicks contraction. It has been constant, I have noticed that my baby is moving alot less too. He is at least 90% less active. I told my doctor about him being less active and he said it was totally normal. but he didnt really explain what to expect, like if your stomach is suppose to get hard.

Is it? I haven't been allowing him (my doc) to check my dilation bc lets face it, it is pointless it is going to take as long as it takes.

I was just hoping someone out there has this right now too and would say so.

  1. I'm 38 weeks and my stomach is hard as a rock most of the day also. Your uterus is toning in preparation for your baby's birth.

I also just recently developed a mild urinary tract infection. My midwife advised me to drink 12+ glasses of water a day, and you know what? My swelling has gone down SO much. Drink plenty of water and hang in there...your baby will be here within a week or two!

  2. Have you lost your appetite as well. ?

  3. Get ready! Baby's coming!

This is normal. My friend just gave birth on Friday to a 7-pounder and her stomach was like a rock too. Now that she's Breastfeeding its all flat again! Go figure...

    BTW: Congrats!

  4. I WOULD SAY YOU ARE GETTING REALLY CLOSE, I WOULD SAY IT IS NOT REAL WISE OF YOU OR YOUR DOC TO NOT CHECK YOU THIS FAR ALONG!! IT COULD PLAY A BIG FACTOR IN HOW LONG YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE HOSPITAL, NO ONE WANTS TO GIVE BIRTH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!

  5. It sounds like you will be having a baby real soon. You need to let your doctor check your cervix for dialation. WHo knows you could be almost fully dialated and not even know it. Just get checked. You are so close to having your baby, its important.

  6. Sounds like baby is preparing to come. I would suspect it will be within the next few days if you start dialating.

  7. Be ready to make the mad dash to the hospital!  Are you able to tell if the baby's dropped a bit?  I was able to tell for sure when I tried to walk up stairs and my legs were hitting my belly.  Keep your feet elevated if they're swelling, if not, walk!  (If it's ok with your high BP.)

If you can, try drinking some raspberry leaf tea.  It helps speed up labor - a midwife told me that and she was right.

    Best of luck!
