Question:

My wireless connection?

My computer connection used to go at 100 mbps but now it only goes at a mere 54 mbps. I don't know why this is happening. I tried restarting, scanning for viruses, shutting down for a day, but none of these worked. Anyone know why this is happening and if possible tell me a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance!

  1. try to defragment and do you have an antivirus?if you dont what i did was get spysweeper&trendmicro anti virus and it helped me clean out  and keep out the bad lately ive downloaded alot into my computer and it still running excellent not to jinx it.....if helped let me know.....

  2. Before when you were at 100mbps you were undoubtedly wired to a network.  now at 54mbps you are on a wireless network, right? 802.11g only gets up to 54.  I wouldn't worry about your computer at all (assuming that this is the issue)

  3. Your pc is fine, 54 mbps and 100 mbps isn't your internet connection actual speed. It's just a figure thats being used in terms of how much megabytes of files your hardware can transfer to each pc. 100 mbps would show up on a ethernet adapter connection and 54 mbps is shown when using a router. If you wanna know your actual internet connection speed, go to this website:- http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

  4. 54mbps is standard speed for wireless connection. 100 mbps is standard for wired connection. I don't think, your internet speed is more than 54mbps. Then it need bee very  expensive one. Maybe you something messed up?
