NEED HELP IMEDIATELY

Question

I gave my cat a bath and used regular VO5 shampoo. I made sure to get it all out, but now he's l*****g himself and I want to make sure it's okay for him to be l*****g himself and I want to know if he's going to get sick? and or die? I love my cat more then anything and i'd be devastated for this to happen just because he stunk!

It doesn't matter what you bathe a cat in they will always try to wash the wetness away when you are done.  They think you have just made them incredibly dirty and must remove the foul human chemicals.  It shouldn't hurt the cat if you rinsed good.  the cat will survive.  Give him some tuna so he stops hating you though.

baby shampoo yes but not vo5 because it has dangerous toxins in it if the cat digests it, even if you think you got it all out you may not have and it dangerous. my vet told me that somone bathed there cat in vo5 and it died.

I'm sure the shampoo left a taste. Cats also have a complex, they have to smell like a cat. Your cat is just trying to get HIS scent back.

Cats don't need baths...they groom themselves.  I also would not use human shampoo.  There is a dry shampoo for cats that is better for them. Putting a cat in water can also put them at risk for having a heart attack.

you should not bath a cat, unless they dance with a skunk, or find something interesting in the rotting garbage.

im sure if he ate the shampoo he would die. but you rinsed him, so the shampoo is gone.

After a bath, most cats will l**k themselves for a long time.  They try to "clean" the water off, and he'll probably keep it up until he's dry or mostly dry.  If he'll tolerate it, you can blow dry him on a low heat setting.  He may also get a hairball from all that grooming, so don't be shocked if he throws one up in the next few days.  You can buy hairball medicineat the pet store that helps the hairballs pass.  Ingesting soap can make him sick, but if he's well-rinsed to the point that there's no more bubbles, that shouldn't be a problem.  Vo5 can be drying to cat skin, so if you have to bathe him in the future, get a cat shampoo instead.

You should really wash your cat with cat shampoo because cats l**k themselves to dry off and any residue from the shampoo thats left on them could make them sick.  No he won't die but for future reference don't use people shampoo anymore.

If you did get it out your cat will be fine, but just to be careful read the bottle of shampoo and make sure it's not toxic. Most likely even if you didn't rinse it out your cat will be fine.

oh no there is no reason to be worried. the shampoo is non-toxic and your cat is probably just grooming himself or dosnt like the smell of the shampoo and trying to l**k it all off. the only problem of using human shampoo on a cat is that it will dry out their skin. for now he will be fine, but if u want to wash him again, go to your local pet store and buy some animal shampoo.

Cat's don't need baths; they l**k themselves, that's how they bathe. But if you had to dunk them in water (which they hate) just do that, and use shampoo that is approved for cats. I don't think it'll be a problem but you can always call the vet just to be sure!

It's non-toxic.  If the cat is still wet and l*****g himself, he's just trying to dry off (grooming fluffs the fur).  He should be fine.

If you're absolutely sure you got all or most of the soap out, your cat should be fine. If it makes you feel better, rinse him again.  They all l**k themselves after a bath.  I'm glad you love your cat.  I also bath my cat, I purchased special pet shampoo as its easier on their eyes, from the pet store.
