NHS job interview? Please help.....?

Hello all,

I have an interview on Tuesday of next week for the position of receptionist in an A+E department in my busy local hospital. I am rather nervous of what I may be asked and what skills are required for the post. I have extensive secretarial expertise, but had to leave work 5 years ago due to my husband having a serious motorcycle accident. All this I have made clear on my C.V. but I would be grateful of any advice you could give me. This job sounds perfect for me and I would love to be offered it! good luck ahead.  I would try to consider examples where I worked directly with the public and how I helped them in that role.  I would think of an example were I felt I did really well, and one I felt was difficult (joe public was abusive & how I was patient/went by the book).  

I would also consider what the important parts of dealing with the public are: communication, being able to listen, speaking clearly, beingfriendlyy and approachable, beingprofessionala, the importance of representing the NHS and its values at all times, even if abused.  All that type of thing.

I'd do the same thing with time management skills, prioritising work loads andexampless of being methodical since it's a busy job.  

Just remember that your CV and/or application have got you this far already so really they are just looking to put a face to the paper and flesh out some more information based on  what you've told them already.  So just show them you're enthusiastic and enjoy your interview with them.  If nothing else it's great practice!  Best!
