NTLDR is missing?

Okay, i'm reading an article I found online about fixing the NTLDR problem. This is on a XP machine. I'm doing the recovery process, and when the list of installed things comes up, the only thing that shows up is this, 1 H:\MiniNT Press Enter to continue.

I press enter, and am now at a prompt. The article says in order to fix this you need to be at C:\Windows> When I try and go there however, it says no file or directory exists and when I do a DIR on the C:\ drive, nothing comes up at all. In fact from C: all the way to F:, says there is nothing, and a XP cd is in one of two dvd rom drives.

  1. Seems like you have a virus. Find someone who can help you get rid of it. "1 H:\MiniNT", in part or all of the file name could be the virus. Seems like the virus has duplicated your NTLDR problem, making it harder to fix.

  2. Since you have access to a working PC, here is a much simpler fix. The one you are using appears to work from DOS, so it would have troubles reading NTFS drives.
