Question:

NURSING SCHOOL QUESTION?

I will try to make this short. 3 weeks ago all of my nursing instructors walked out. They were awesome (until that point). We (the students) went to administration and demanded they be reinstated and that their request for an additional full-time instructor be granted. Administration said they would, and did reinstate them but still have not hired the FT instructor. We found out friday people are being interviewed for the director position. So obviously they are not holding their end of the deal. My question is should I transfer to another school while I can, or should I stay with my cohorts and finish ...possibly delaying my graduation a few weeks or more. I have to make this dicision by mon. My classmates are valuable to me but I only have 16 weeks to graduate. The school I can transfer to, has only a 50% pass rate on NCLEX...my current school has 90+%. This is a big decision for me... I feel like my world has been pulled out from under me, and all I can do is watch. Thanks for your input.

  1. I would probably stay where you are since the passing rate is higher. Thats what matters. Just wait it out and youll be fine. Good luck and congrats to almost graduating!

  2. OMG that's amazing! All of them? Well, they were probably over worked with classes. Ok well since they've reinstated the teachers, I'd just go ahead and finish because like you said, their NCLEX is 90%. That's enough right there. The other college may make you take additional courses you wouldn't of needed to finish this degree. Good luck, hang in there! 16 weeks isn't long at all considering. Then just make sure you go out and celebrate when you do graduate because it's an honorable profession!

  3. Wow. That sucks. Do you go to my friends school? Sounds like her situation. What is it with nursing instructors walking out. Happened to her last year. Stay where you are. They'll get new instructors and the program is already set. They'll adjust.

  4. STAY!

you are almost done--as students (if you have time) you need to pull for your teachers and make everyone in the school aware.  I can't see administration ignoring a bunch freaked out, senior nursing students.  It is scary enough being in classes with all nursing students to me--everyone is an overachiever no slackers more competition let a lone to have them all mad.  You have done so much this year--you can achieve this too.
