if you are charged with a class a misdemeanor in New York, and you get a fine, what can the fine be??

With misdemeanors in NY, the maximum punishment is $1000 fine and one year in jail.  However, the worst part about the misdemeanor is that it is crime.  As a result of a conviction  you will receive a criminal record that will haunt you for life.  Most job applications you have to disclose all criminal convictions, and thus you will have to explain yourself.  New York doesn't have a legal mechanism that allow expunging or deleting criminal records, so you are pretty much stuck with it.
