Right, i have 3 kids- Tammiie-Laura and Felicity-Grace- twins, 5 years, and Whitney-Paige, 1/2 year. Me and y husband are going out this Friday and have no one to look after the kids. We have a 'Nanny', but she is away this week as it is the holidays. My husband says we can look in the yellow pages to get a babysitter, but i don't think this is safe and feel a bit uncomfortable. What do you think? Thanks, Roxii x

  1. I wouldn't trust the phone book either. Ask some friends or neighbors for referrals, most are more then willing to share. When I used to baby-sit I never had to network, because my number just got passed around.

  2. wheres family? i would never feel comfortable with a stranger waching my kids barley feel ok with family.

  3. Simple ...don't go out ... if it means looking through a phone book why risk it ..

  4. I personally would never leave my children with a stranger and most definitely not one from the Yellow Pages! I have only ever let family look after my children and if that meant that I couldn't go out when I wanted to, so be it. I would recommend that if you are looking for someone to babysit your children to go through a reputable agency or through word of mouth - see if any of your friends know of someone reliable.

  5. I WOULDN'T PICK A RANDOM NANNY OUT THE YELLOW PAGES, ANYONE CAN MAKE AN AD ON YELLOW PAGES, BEST BABYSITTERS ARE ALWAYS GRANDMAS OR ANY FAMILY MEMBER YOU TRUST, I'M EVEN CAREFUL ABOUT RELATIVES BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF THE MOLESTATION CASES IS SOMEONE WE KNOW.

  6. there is a website now for this exact problem called nannies4hire.com

It will allow you to search through nannies registered in your area, and will also give you some pointers on hiring

  7. Know any other couples with kids? Ask them about their babysitters, I would say its always best to get one referred.

  8. Call a reputed agency which holds references for their employees. Just do a search on nannies in your area.

  9. For the sake of a night out, is it really worth it if you're going to be worried all night anyway?

  10. Go to church? Ask around there.
