Natural Earth massage kit?

I got given one for my birthday and it has oils and a massager with it but its got some odd reedy things with it im not sure what they are or what there for? there white and very smelly. they were inside the bowl in which you put the oils. can anyone tell me what they are for?

The reeds sound like they are for scent.  Put the reeds in a decorative glass container to gently fragrance the room.  To be used instead of candles.
