Ok i was exposed to natural gas from a leak in the gas main. My room was right next to it and my window fully never closed so it was always in the room i slept in that room for about a year. What i am wondering is if the gas could get stuck in my bed and still be here in my new place if you have any experience with natural gas leaks let me know what you went through and if you have any ideas i go to the doctors to day to get it checked out.

  1. Natural gas is lighter than air so it will try to go up. They add a stink to the gas so it smells very bad.

I suspect if there was a leak in a main out side and you didn't smell the rotten egg smell you didn't get much exposure.

You can tell your doctor and see what they say, but I doubt you will have any issues now that you are in fresh air.

  2. Not likely to be a problem The gas is dissipated unless you can still smell it. Natural gas has an odorant added to it which would have been very apparent if it came into your room.

  3. If it would have been propane gas then you would have had a problem because propane creeps along the floors and pools up. Natural gas dissipates into the air and is produced by breakdown of soils and composts. We have gas around us all the time but is it not compressed and scented. If it was going to harm you it would have already done it long ago.

  4. You may just need to wash all you bedding and other things in room!

Now know this the gas has more than likely gone, but you still got the smell.

The Natural gas and propane gas neither have a small. The smell you you have is coming from the agent that put in the gas to let you know you have a leak.

It is called skunk! It stinks like crazy. This smell may stay with you for a long time unless you wash and clean everything you got in that room. It is very strong!
