Natural remedy for mosquitoes?

I'm 5 months pregnant and am being constantly bitten by mosquitos, just as I dose off to sleep at night, they start their annoying little buzzzzz buzzzzz in my ear! Woke up this morning and there were six in the bedroom....they were quite big so i'm guessing they'd had a good night....lucky them :o) I was wondering if there was some kind of mixture I could make that I could leave in the room that they'd go to instead of munching on me?! I know for flies that slices of lemon studded with cloves and soaked in vinegar works but unfortunatley it doesn't work for the mosquitoes in the Canary Islands! Any ideas would be welcome!

  1. you can get a machine now,you plug into wall socket, you wont hear it but some how mozzies hate it and leave in haste, try b&q,in the indoor garden section.

  2. I have used Listerine mouthwash. Just put it in a spray bottle and the mosquitoes won't go near it. You can also wipe yourself down with a bounce dryer sheet to keep them off of you. Maybe (I have never tried it) you could put a few dryer sheets under your bedding and maybe under your pillow, that might help, (as long as you can stand the smell without getting a headache.)

    Good Luck.

    gram

  3. There are a few botanical extracts that does a fairly decent job of repelling mosquitos.

1- Rose Geranium - Has gerniol that repels insects. You can also get this in an arm band to wear.

    2- Citronella

    3 - Texas Cedar oil.

  4. Eat your food with garlic in it.

  5. If the noise doesn't bother you, use an oscillating fan, they can't fly in the breeze.

  6. Heard ages ago that Avon skin so soft kept them at bay.I  think they still sell it.

You could try brewers yeast tabs/vitamin b6 but you would need to talk to your pharmacy/doctor.

Mosies dont like the smell of beer [ not lager] the tabs when taken give off a smell the mosies hate.

Use a fan, maybe thay cant fly if the fan is working & pointing towards you.
