I started taking Abilify a week and a half ago in the hospital and had mild to moderate nausea. It went away. NOW it's back. Anyone have this happen? Also, I went for 8 months without a craving for cigarrettes, andd yesterday the craving ws so bad I went out and bought a pack (grrr). Personal experience with Abilify would help me a lot. No quotes from pharmaceuticals please.

  1. For over 18 tears, I have suffered Major Depression and an Anxiety Disorder.  Main Symptoms were negative thinking/fear and major fatigue all the time.

I was started on Abilify about 6 months ago - and WOW - the fatigue is almost all gone as well as negative thinking.  Yippee!

I have not noticed nausea; but the first week or two, I felt manic (which is rare for me) but my doctor assured me that I wasn't manic.  But I didn't go into detail with her either.  I am level now

  2. I have been on Abilify for a while and never had that problem. It is just like popping tic tacks to me, it doesn't work on my symptoms or cause side effects.

As far as cigarettes, a disproportionately large number of mentally ill people smoke because it eases the symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar, so I wouldn't be so quick to blame the Abilify. I have heard that 80% of mentally ill people smoke, and I can tell you that when I go to the free mental health clinic I have to bring an extra pack with me because everybody wants one.
