Need Help Quick!?Please!?

I'm selling my Macbook tommorow(locally). The guy who I'm selling it to use to live with my brother and wants to pay me half tommorow and the rest in September. The problem is that I don't know what to do? Should I sell it and trust him or Idk??? Guys I really need some advice!

  1. I would advise caution in that arrangement.  If it were me, I would perhaps allow a known (and reliable) person to pay me in installments.  For an unknown or suspect person I might allow it but not allow possession of the goods until the final installment was made.

    If you decide to go ahead with this arrangement, you should put the agreement in writing and have it signed by both of you and also independently witnessed (e.g. by a person unrelated to either of you).  You should also include in the agreement that the macbook is sold on an as-is basis with no warranty, that ownership doesn't transfer until the full amount has been paid, and that the full amount is payable by a specific date.


  2. Your brother knows this guy, you don't.  Just explain to him that you're looking for the full price on it now for another cash obligation (a bill, or another computer purchase, etc) that you need to make immediately, so you need all the cash now.  Otherwise,  you may or may not ever see the other half of your money -- or your mac book again.  

  3. If you know and trust him, then sure. But you should get an agreement in writing. I personally wouldn't do it.
