Yesterday i changed the diotomacious earth in my pool and added some alge out. This morning i added some needed acid. the algae out says to superchlorinate the pool after 12 and 24 hrs. I wanted to know if i still need to chlorinate the pool or if the pool is safe to swim in yet

  1. What you need to do is test the pH of the water. Then adjust from that result. With a simple chlorine test kit you can check available chlorine and see if it is either alkaline or acid.

Do not add things without testing first.

You can also get Aqua Chem 6-way test strips. then check on line for recommendations.

Have ya ever swam in a lake or river? It should be cleaner than that!

  2. You should chlorinate the pool - especially if you have had visible algae growth.  Also, if your chlorine is within an acceptable range, you should be able to swim.   However, if you superchlorinate, you should probably wait until tomorrow to swim.
