Need help finding cheap commuter bike?

I'm going to be riding about 6 miles to work each day and need to find a good bike that is about $100 or less. What would you guys recommend?

The problem is we don't know where you are.

In the under $100 range it really doesn't matter, they're all going to be heavy and clunky, but you ride it 6 miles each way, and after a couple months of work you save up to buy a better one, and save the WalMart special for riding in the rain.

Another thing to look for, depending on where you live, is used bikes--check on www.craiglist.com if your area is listed, look in thrift shops, and even some bike shops carry used bikes. You might be able to get a better quality bike (lighter frame, better components) for about the same money. Then all you have to do is ride it until you get your first paycheck, then pay for a tuneup.
