  1. If it's pure speed you're having trouble with, there's nothing you can do besides striving for fast leg turnover, run at a 2-3 degree lean and really pump the arms. when you hit the line get low to the ground so you can push off with more force when you change direction. Practice it.

  2. pick a speed that you feel is a good speed that you could keep up.

  3. the place that you lose time the most is at the ends.  Say there is a cone.  When you touch that cone and you are decellerating as you approach, stopping, and then you need to reaccellerate back up to speed.  Focus on trying to touch the line/cone/etc as fast as you can and get up as fast as you can.  You can never make up the time in your sprinting between.  Get a good pace!

This is the best advice in such a short term.  There is a lot you can do to practice if you had time (hockey stops, explosive jumps, etc).  You will do fine if you relax, set a solid pace, and know the weaknesses of the drill (the stops!)

    Good Luck!
