I have been having palpitations for a few days. At the moment very sweaty, nausea, shaky and dizziness. The blood glucose is 10.6 but I feel I want to throw out. If I didn't have my dinner then I can't have the Glipizide 5mg. Or can I take the Glipizide without food? Or better skip a Glipizide tonight?

I am lost. I desperately need an advise and/or help. I find very hard to deal with this kind of matter. When I see a doctor, she told me half in the morning and one tablet before dinner. In the middle of sleep, 3:00am - 4:00am, I was waking up, nausea, sweaty and shaking on the bed. Blood sugar 3.6?

Please help me.......

  1. You need to make sure you eat something for supper before you go to bed so that your blood sugar doesn't drop too low overnight.

  2. For one thing, you need to eat a snack of good carbs before you go to bed.  This will stop the low you are having during the night.  You need to talk to your doctor again about your medication. It may need changed or adjusted, but you clearly are not sure of how to take it. Sit down and talk with her instead of just asking a quick question.  You should also make an appointment with a nutritionist, she will help your with your meals and help you get much better control of your disease....

  3. if you blood glucose is that low then DO NOT take the glipizide. glipizide will lower your blood sugar. your blood sugar should be at 95-110....the sweaty, shaky feelings are symptoms of HYPOglycemia....You need to eat sugar if you can or drink OJ if you are able to, but that low...you need a glucagon shot.

  4. A blood sugar of 3.6 is too low. When my friend Tom was in the hospital and his blood sugar levels were that low the nurse would give him orange juice, some cheese etc, to bring it back up to a normal level. Normal range is between 5 and 7. Maybe you should tell your doctor this is happening to you because they may have to change your medication amount or type. Good luck.
