Need help with hemp bracelets!!?

Question

I need some help determining what kind of knot is used here and how the beads have been attached to the hemp. No matter how many times I have tried I cannot figure out what to do in order to make the hemp look circular! Please help my fellow crafters! : )

Its not a knot its a braid.  You can make it using kumihimo, which is japanese braiding.

This is how to do it with a stand, but you can buy kumihimo disks, and it is pretty much the same thing
