  1. I worked with Saxon for a while. It can range from many ages so you could always try that. :)

  2. I used Saxon from sixth grade through high school. It is awesome.

  3. Here are some we have used and been happy with:

For younger grades like k-3rd grade we liked the Math made Easy series.  We bought the workbooks at Sams Club I believe.

For the older grades, we have used all of the following and found them all to be great!

    Saxon Math http://saxonpublishers.harcourtachieve.c...

    Math U See http://www.mathusee.com/

    Key To Series- http://www.keypress.com/x5205.xml.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Please give us more details about which math grade level books you need; then we can be more helpful.

  5. Try Saxon. It is chosen by level of ability not grade. It is incremental and reviews constantly. It works great. I suggest bying it on ebay along with the Solution Manual. It is pricey bust cheaper used.We have used them for the last 5 years at home.

  6. Personally, I use the textbooks and course companions for the IB maths course (IB = International Baccalaureate @ www.ibo.org).

Their's is a pretty robust and challenging programme (it's supposed to be for 16 -18 yr olds but I've been using their texts since I was 14 so I'm not sure how relevant those ages are in terms of ability). However I do get pretty peeved sometimes that the IB maths relies so heavily on you working things out by using a calculator. I would prefer it if there was more mental maths involved rather than just learning which keys to press in which order to make the answer appear on a screen!

'Course the ib texts may not be an option for you unless, like us, you're an unschooler because, whilst one can use their texts etc to study from, being home-educated one can't actually go on and do the exams and get the IB qualification at the end of it.

  7. I used Saxon, and it was very good, and I've heard good things about Math-U-See.

Now I'm using Saxon for Physics, and I like it a lot!  (I'm a Junior, as much as a homeschooler is in any one grade.)

  8. It would help if you could tell us what math level/grade you're looking for=)

  9. Look into Teaching Textbooks.  My son is using their Algebra I and it's great!

  10. mathbookdotcom

  11. What are you using? What grade?

We just swiched to Math-U-See and we love it. Singapore is good but it can be harder. My sister uses Saxon and they really enjoy it. Good Luck!

  12. I've heard a lot of great things about Math-U-See. Google it, and take one of the free placement tests to figure out where you need to be (you may be surprised). Then have a look at their math curricula.

  13. Saxon math is wonderful. I used to use Switched On Schoohouse Math, but it wasn't working for me. I switched to Saxon for Algebra II, and math is so much better for me now. It explains the math formulas much better than any other math program I have used.

  14. I agree with the person above me... I and/or my sibs tried all that curriculum, and it's good.... Also, I used ACE (accelerated Christian Education) for most of my math, and it was good too.
