my baby goes to sleep late, anywhere from 11 to midnight and sleeps late, atleast until 10. this hasn't been a problem because i don't work and i personally didn't mind these hours!!! but i have started to tend my friends kids and will be driving them to school when they start next week. i would like to be able to get my baby up by 8 so i can have him fed before we have to leave for school. i have a week and i was wondering if anyone new of a good way to gradually start changing my baby's sleep schedule to get him to start waking up earlier and going down earlier at night!!! he normally doesn't even eat until about a half hour after he wakes up but i would hate to get him packed up in the car and have him get hungry and cry the whole trip!!! any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!! thanks in advance mommies!!!

  1. Just start getting your baby up at the time you want him up.  Then in the evening gradually start to put him to bed half an hour earlier each night until you get to the the time that you want him to go to bed - in this case I guess around 9/10 pm.  Eventually his body clock will adjust to the new time schedule.

  2. Try moving the bedtime back by 30 min. each night until baby is waking up when you need him to, or if he has a late afternoon nap you could shorten it.

  3. how old is he?

Every night, start by putting him down 15 minutes earlier.  This way he will gradually go down earlier, and hopefully will not make such a fuss.  Hopefully, he will wake up on his own a bit earlier.

You may have a rough first week with him when you have to get the other kids off to school until he gets use to his new schedule.

  4. You need to get the baby out of this routine and soon.

i would advise that you take the baby to bed at 10pm to start with then knock it down by half an hour each night until you get to 8pm.

    Mon- 10pm

    Tue- 9.30 pm

    Wed- 9-pm

    Thur- 8-30pm

    Fri- 8pm

See how it goes if it dosen't work in a week try doing it per week instead.

    1st week 10pm

    2nd week 9.30pm

    3rd week 9pm

    4th week 8.30pm

    5th week 8pm.

It will take a bit longer but will be worth it in the end and you and your baby will both benefit from a decent nights sleep and you'll get a bit of time to yourself also.
