Need help with sister?

About a year ago, I was playing with my 7 year old sister in the basement. I was about 5'11". I picked her up by the arms and was lifting her up and down with her facing away from me. She wanted me to toss her so I went to the basement and went to an open area free from objects. I threw vertically up so she would land on her feet. What I didn't expect was that she would launch herself off me and bellyflop unto the floor. The floor was carpet but it had cement underneath it. So she landed on her frontside...face first. I was terrified. She was crying and screaming. I hugged her and she quieted down just before my parents came home. We never told them what happened. Before I left to college, I heard my sister has some kind of heart problem.

A year and a half passed. My parents don't know about it, nor has my sister went to the doctor.

She seems okay on the surface but she still remembers the incident and cries about it. She says landed on her forehead, a little bit on the chin, her armpit, and the hip...well...she said those are the areas that hurt back then.

Is my sister okay physically? How will I get her to forget this thing?

I still get nightmares and visions about me dropping and killing my sister.

I don't believe that being dropped can cause a heart condition.

I DO believe though that heart conditions are genetic.

I'm pretty sure of that.

Just tell your parents what happened.

If she hasn't been to the doctor how do you guys no she has heart problems?? I know you don't want to tell your parents but you guys need to talk about this because if it still bothers her a year later and she still cries, she knows that somethings didn't go right when she fell, so you may want to speak up and tell what happened before its to far along to fix, so if she needs help physically and mentally she can get it... don't worry she'll be fine as long as you do the right thing....

this is probably the last thing you want me to tell you but, you need to tell your parents! i usally would say keep it a secret but ur sisters life could be at stake! they cant punish u cuz ur 18 but theyl probably be mad. if you really care about her youll tell them!!!!

If you physically injured your sister, her wounds would be healed by now. Any emotional damage (if any) will pass in time. Being honest with you, it sounds more like you feel guilty.. Forgive yourself and get on with life. When I was about 12 I had been naughty so my mother sent me to my room.. I was so miffed that I slammed the door on my way out. Unbeknownst to me, my youngest sister (she was about 9 months old) had her little finger in the back of the door.. when I slammed it, it severed the tip of her finger. OMG!!! I felt so bad for so many years... I couldn't look at her hand without being reminded of what I had done... even into my twenties I still felt bad. But I have now reached a point where I accept that KIDS DO DUMB THINGS.. I did.. you did.. and I am sure we are not alone.. Rather than beat yourself up about what might have been, celebrate the fact that she's OK... In years to come this incident might become a family yarn, where you and her can look back and laugh, "...remember the time we..."

p.s. If she does have a heart condition, that would be completely unrelated to you dropping her... so don't beat yourself up over that :-)

First, tell your parents. Yes, you might hear some words not to your liking but then, it is your fault and most importantly you are taking responsibility for it by saying the truth. They will probably be mad for some time but they are your parents, they'll forgive you.

Second, tell the doctor about the incident. Her heart problem could not be connected to that incident but other conditions might exist.

Third, if you did the above, well done! You're nightmares will be over because you have put a CLOSURE to that incident. You're getting the the nightmares because you love you're sister and you're scared that you could have killed her. Hey, you didn't...:-)

No one can tell you if she is okay online, go to a doctor, tell your parents, and ask for forgiveness
