I have been a vegetarian for about 3 months now and I feel like I may not be getting enough protein. I eat Boca Burgers every once in a while and I eat a lot of cheese and rice and stuff. But how else can I get the protein that I need?

  1. Eat a balanced diet that incorporates all of the vegetarian food groups: fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, dairy products and eggs.  Google the vegetarian food pyramid to see how many servings you need of each type of food.  If you follow that, protein will never be an issue.

  2. You can all the protein you need by eating a balanced diet of whole grains, veggies, beans, nuts etc.

  3. protien pill, but talk to your docter before you start, um, i hate to say, but you have to eat red meat,.i know, i just look at the store, and can imagine all the animals being killed. oh and dffor all the kfc lovers out their, only eatt kfc in canada, they dont tourture their animals, unlike us in america...peta.com

  4. Generally, it's a myth that vegetarians are in danger of not getting enough protein.  Protein deficiency is so rare in the U.S. where most people are obese and diabetes is on the rise, that doctors probably couldn't even list the symptoms!

I have recently been concerned with overconsuming soy products, so I just bought a thing of "hemp protein powder."  I mixed it with my carrot/apple/lemon/ginger juice this morning and a little bit of almond butter and honey.  Kind of "nutty" tasting, but pretty good.  I got the idea from Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern show who became a vegan and lost 60 pounds.

  5. cottage cheese is full of protienm same with beans & bagels

but you should also be thinking of your iron intake, as people who aren't even vegetarians are low on iron, and you as a vegetarian would most likely be lower than them, i would recomend eating a bowl of specail K with red berries, 3/4 cup is 30% of daily iron intake, and this meal is vegan if it isn't with milk.

also, vitiman C makes you absorb your iron, drink a glass of juice or something, also, small packs of kool-aid has 800% percent of vitamin C intake, so that's good for 8 days.

remember, protiens not the only thing to worry about
