I was trying to play a dvd on the pc. Our old puter would do this but this is new puter. I have nero, so I thought would be no prob but it won't play. It will play dvds I have had copied on dvd fab from earlier but when I put in a bought dvd it won't play. I have a regular dvd drive and also a dvd burner. Why can't I play any. Is there maybe some codecs I need. I went to microsoft and used the validation utility and all that and was told that nero is not compatible. Any suggestins? I just shelled out bungh of money for new dvds thinkin I could watch them.

Thanx for all the help I may get.

  1. Download this,it's a much better player than windows, easier to use and will cure your problem.

  3. Depending on the OS you are using, Media Player 10 and higher can display DVD, but you will need to install a plug-in found on Microsoft's website.  With XP a number of programs are cautioned as questionable, but that is big brother looking out for you and most of the time you disregard the pop-ups.  Previous OS, such as 2000, allow most any program to be installed.  If there is a conflict you will find out soon after installing the program.

Back to your question:  go to Microsoft, download the plug-in, use Media Player to view your DVD.
