  1. monopoly -"mono" means "one".

    sole-means "one"

    sole monopoly is redundant.  Use one or the other, but not both.

    Members of the staff and their families possessed a monopoly over the recreation park.

    The recreation park was reserved solely for the use of staff members and their families.


  2. I don't see anything redundant in here; is there something before or after it, like the rest of a paragraph?

    Without knowing the context, it's impossible to answer the question.

    Edit - good catch gypsy!  I was thinking repetitive words in a paragraph.  Sorry about that!
