I need some help with everything.. I currently live in a small town near Melbourne and really want to move to Melbourne next year.. thing is.. I'm turning 16 soon, I dropped out of school, and I have work.. But need to know what's the best way to get down to Melbourne (money wise) and all that, and what could some of my options be? I know I get home away allowance or something like that from Centrelink, but really just needing to know how it all works, me paying tax and all that I'm really confused.

  2. Here's a link to a handful of youth support services:

You can give them a call before you leave.

I know they kind of deal more with people at risk of being homeless, but all that means is that they'll be really keen to help you out with advice on the sorts of support available to you, especially as you're still pretty young (i.e. not a legal adult), so they can give you advice on how to go about getting accomodation in that situation. They'd be pretty used to dealing with kids leaving abusive home lives etc.

I know you don't want to hear it, but it helps more than anything in the world to finish school - and you can do so in a completely different environment when you come to Melbourne, so that's an option too.  My friend did that, even just in a different suburb miles away from all her old friends that were causing her trouble.  Then the new school can help you out in all sorts of ways, who are often better equipped to do so than an employer by a long shot.

    Best of luck!!!
