a) What fraction of geologic time is represented by recorded history (assume 5000 years for the length of recorded history)?

b) The first abundant fossil evidence does not appear until the beginning of the cambrian period (approximately 55 million years ago.) What percentage of geologic time is represented by abundant fossil evidence?

Can some help me i cant figure it out...

A) Simplify:  5,000/5,000,000,000 (5000 divided by 5 billion)

Equals:  1/1,000,000

B) Simplify:   (55 million divided by 5 billion)

Equals:  55/5,000 = 11/1,000
