Negative then positive, same test??

I'm just curious if this has ever happened to anyone else.

I haven't missed my period yet, but I've been feeling a few pregnancy symptoms(similar to my first pregnancy, which I found out I was pregnant before my missed period).

I took a test early sunday morning and it was negative, but when I got home from work (about 11 hrs later) and saw it in the trash, it had a very faint positive line. So I bought another test, different brand, and tested yesterday morning(waited 20 mins lol) and it was negative, but then later in the afternoon the test had a super faint positive line. What the heck?

I've never had a test change result the more hours it sat there.

Anyone else have this happen?

  1. go to a doctors office and have them do a pregnancy test. it cost me $20 and you have to get it done anyways.

  2. It's an evaporation line.  Tests are not accurate after they have been sitting for that long.  Most tests will say on the box that it is not accurate to read after say 1 hour.  If you waited the recommended time (usually 3 minutes) and the test said negative, then it was negative.

  3. Sounds like it could be an evap line.

  4. on the box it tell you to void any answers after 3 hrs. so it was a negative. sorry.

  5. go take a blood test there alwasy accurate

  6. Never had that happen to me, but then i tend not to look at it after it's been used. If it did happen then I wouldn't take notice of the result as most pregnancy tests say on them that after 10 minutes if it changes disregard it as the result will be invalid. If you are pregnant it will show up within the 10 minutes it wouldn't take hours, it's just because it's been left lying around.
