New Bike???

Right now I have a 2006 Giant Iguana, stock. I was thinking it may be good time to buy a new bike or upgrade. First off, I mainly mountain bike, i'm 5'9" and weigh around 150. The Iguana is very heavy, so if i decided to upgrade what could i do to reduce the weight. Also if i upgrade i would like to spend no more than $300, if I'm going to get a new bike, i would like to spend around $700-800. Thanks!

  1. Take a look at a Gary Fisher Marlin or Piranha.  They are in your price range.

  2. get a shwinn

  3. get a new one if ya cant find one u like keep the old and upgrade it

  4. For a new bike, I would look into a specialized.  They have some bikes around $800.  As far as upgrading your Giant, upgrades are going to cost a lot more than $300.

  5. whocare just get a cheap bike

  6. "Which is a better bike, a Trek or a Specialized?

Or Cannondale or Orbea or Scott or Schwinn or Cervelo. We're asked "Which brand is better?" almost daily. While each brand has its diehard fans, we can't answer the question. It's not because of any political reason, but because it's not the right question to ask--you're buying a bicycle, not a brand. .."

  8. It's going to cost alot more than $300.00 for an upgrade kit for your Giant.  Just a pair of basic pedals like the Crankbrothers Acid are over $100.00.  If your willing to spend up to $800.00 go with a Gary Fisher line.  Most of there stock bikes are fairly light weight (for a front suspension only).  I bought a Gary Fisher Marlin and up graded the handle bars, suspension fork, rims, and brakes.  I bought the bike for $600.00 new and now have about $1500.00 wrapped up in it.  Then again I do about 125-130miles per week on it.  Good luck.
