New York University. Info?

Approx. how much would it cost for a British student to live and study in New York at NYU?

What about admission? What qualifications do i need? A-Levels? GCSE's?

What about Student Loans? Any good websites (apart from the actual NYU website, it's useless) appreciated.

Actually, any information i could use is welcome, unless you want to tell me how stupid this question is, in which case i'd appreciate it if you stabbed yourself in the eyes with a fork. Or a knife. Any sharp object would do the trick really.

  1. All of the information you require is available on the NYC website.

    Qualifications:

    - You will need proof that you graduated from High School, so you will need either the orginal or a certified copy of your GCSE grades.

    Standardized Tests:

    - You will need to take either the SAT or ACT test. If you take th ACT then you must also take the ACT Writing Test. If you are in a location where the ACT Writing Examination is not available, you must take the SAT.

    Finance:

    - If your studies are being financed by means of your own savings, parental support, outside private or government scholarships, or any combination of these, you must arrange to send official letters or similar certificates as proof of such support, together with a New York University Application for Certificate of Eligibility (AFCOE), which is available to students only *after* offered admission.

    - Certificates for student visas (Form I-20) will be issued only if you are offered admission AND pay the appropriate deposits. It is not necessary for you to submit financial documents with your application.

    - Application for admission fee $75.

    - Tuition alone for a full-time student costs in 2007 costs $35, 283.

    - The total amount of funds you must have available in order to be issued an I-20 to obtain a visa, is currently $55,400 per academic year (September-May). This includes tuition, room and board, books, insurance etc. There are no scholarships, only loans for a maximum of $20,000 per year.

U.S. Student loans are not very rarely handed out to international students as there are limited funds available and so the the applicant is expected to be able to fund everything themselves. If you wish for a student loan, you need to either contact NYU directly for more information or contact local banks for a personal loan.

As I said, all of this information is available on their website, also feel free to sign up or look around their forums for more information.
