Question:

New engine for 1994 Honda Civic?

I just bought a 1994 Honda Civic DX 2 door coupe manual 1.5 liter for $200. The body is straight, the interior is fair, the transmission and clutch are fine. The problem is, the car overheats after about 5 minutes. It could be a minor fix but worse case could be a blown head.

If it IS a blown head and will be too much to fix, how much would it cost to have a shop put in a rebuilt engine? If it's less than $800, I have a great car for $1,000. Please let me know what to expect. THANKS!

  1. Hi, I just checked up on the cost for a blown head- its more than you paid for the car-

That list gives you estimate costs.  I would take it to a mechanic for an estimate- if the car is in otherwise good condition, you might be able to replace the head gasket and get another year or two out of it while saving up for a car that will last you even longer :)

    Good luck!
