  1. HI KB :))

Ok.....  now you ARE asking for advice and I am going to give you the same advice I have given my own flute students.

Piccolos are really fun to play.... but they are harmony instruments and not played on an every day to day basis.   I think your private lesson teacher is trying to steer you in the right direction by advising you to get the flute.   Sounds to me,  you are an advanced player, since the teacher is suggesting the open hole and B foot model flute.  So it makes no sense to be an advanced flute player with only a beginner flute to use for competitions, concerts, solo and ensemble and region tryouts.  With other advanced flute players in your class perhaps upgrading to the advanced level flute... you would probably wind up feeling behind the rest of them and eventually wanting the step-up model, and then your parents would remind you that you selected the piccolo instead of the flute.

It is your decision,  but if it were me,  I would elect to have the new advanced flute and then later look to find a nice used piccolo in the price range my parents would agree to.

So, that is my professional advice.

    Thanks for reading.  :))
