New retainer?!?!?

well i got my new retainer yesterday.... and it's made my gums ReALLY sore. and there's a line in my gums from the metal wire on the right side.. and now i tried to make the rightside a little flexible and less tite.. and now the left side is sore and has a line through my gums now!!!!! my upper right tooth and canine tooth are sore... and my right side gums are sore.. is this NORMAL??? what should i do???

Go to the dentist again this happens alot in the office some new retainers aren't the same shape as your teeth so come back to to the dentist make sure this time he gets it right and tell them you shouldn't pay more for the new retainer because if they make you it's bull
