New sound system in my car?!!?

Okay i have a 1997 ford escort and im looking to put a decent sound system in it and i was wondering what should i do im new to all this and i need a good set up so please give me so recommendations. thanks

I just got a new sound system put into my 78 El Camino from Best Buy and I am extremely pleased with it!!  I got a new CD deck and new speakers all around which cost about $500 with installation.  I thought that was very reasonable and the people working there were very helpful.  

The installation would probably be cheaper for your car since it is newer.  You could save money by just purchasing a CD deck and having it hooked up to your stock speakers (they're probably pretty good since it's a 1997).  Or you could go with the speaker upgrades too (I went with Pioneer speakers and they sound great).

change out factory speakers with infinitys

subs 2 12 w1v8 jl audio you can get them each at about in sealed box 100.00 each just search the web with out box

the amp i would get rockford fosgate

model 550.2 and bridge

so buying the subs,amp and changing factory speakers,box looking at around 350.00 depending on the price

and do not get a cheap head unit you will be upset later but pioneer is the way 2 go,
