  1. Now is the best time of year to buy - especially for a beginner - the clearance sales are everywhere. Do you have a Sports Authority near you? They have a clearance sale called SNIAGRAB that has great prices. If shopping on line, try this one:

First, determine what size board you need. Ignore the "to your chin" - that only works for some people and is just a stupid rule of thumb that will only get you close. Use a snowboard size calculator - it will even give you some suggestions:

Get a good quality board (Freeride: Ride, K2 Freestyle: Rome, K2, Gnu, Lib Tech). It is easier to learn on a freeride board because it has setback (nose is longer than tail) but a freestyle (park) board will work.

Look at the Ride Ex bindings or other metal bindings that won't fall apart like the cheap plastic ones.

With boots, it is just what fits and feels good on your feet - go try some on.

    Good Luck

  2. Hi. I reccomend the ride ruckus (if you are a kid.young teen) That was my first board and it was perfect. Bindings ought to be high backs. not the clip in kind or that new magnet type. Boots are really up to you. go for something more stiff but you ought to go to a shop to try some things out and see what feels good. Good luck. and DO NOT buy your stuff online. get it in person so you are sure you have what feels good and looks good and is the shop guys say is good for you.

  3. definately a snowboard.

  4. ok what u really wanna look at is what style of riding u will probably be doing. and usually if u will be snowboarding at a resort u should rent at first, im new to this sport also. my first year!!!! so ur not alone. i pretty much just ask around and most people have told me burton has really good beginner boards, bindings and boots. but since im going to be getting really into this sport im looking at the more expensive stuff...(solomon) boots  (ride, nitro, burton) boards and (ride and burton) for bindings. like i said ask around..its all personal preference. i would recommend renting first though  cuz u can really get to feel what boot size binding size and board size would be perfect for you... i really hope i helped u out bro..talk to me if u need any other help
