I'm going to be a sophomore in high school and I would like to try out for the tennis team. I've never played tennis competitively, just sort of rec time with friends & playing other racquet sports. Do you have any tips for a beginning tennis player on training & practices? Anything that will help me make the team :))

  1. i would try to find the money and go get a lesson or two or three.  they can atleast teach you the basics of the game and proper technique. you will be suprised how much your initial game can improve in just 2 or 3 lessons

  2. WELL...

    -have good sportsman/womanship.

-stay cool when your under pressure

    -determination

-choose where you stand to receive the ball and where you serve.

    -have good hand-eye coordination

-happy feet are good feet :D

and have a hit in a squad or take a private lesson :)

OR...in your local club find someone to have a hit with you.

    goodluck :)

  3. Find out who played on the team last year and ask one of them to get together for a game this summer.  Once you're done playing ask them if they think you have a chance getting on the team.  This will help you gauge if you're ready for the team or not.

  4. Take lessons and train so hard in 1 lesson i was able to move up to tournament level because i freakin trained with my sister and she was good.

  5. This website can really help you with the basics and some advanced techniques, too.
