ive been watching nfl for awhile but not really pay attention to it, so i dont get a couple of things: 1. what does it mean when the team that kicks off is able to get to the ball and surround for a few seconds. 2. are you allowed to tackle the receivers before the quarterback has even thrown the ball?

last, how do you do a perfect snap, like the way the pros do it, with a spin to the ball?

  1. ok 1, your talking about a punt. when the offense cannot make it on 3rd down, and don't want to go for it on fourth down, they must punt. sometimes the kicking team will get down field quick so the return team doesn't have a chance. if the kicking team touches it before the return team does, the ball is down rite there, and the other offense will come onto the field. 2, You are not, allowed to tackle the receivers before the ball touches them, that's called pass interference. same with the defense, you can hit/block a defensive player they can't get the ball. And 3, if your talking about a throw, when you say snap, then you just twist your hand when throwing. at first, it will be wobbly and not very good but soon it will get better and better with practice.

  2. 1. The kick I think you're referring to is a punt. If the receiving team does not touch the ball, the kicking team will generally let it stop bouncing around in hopes that it will roll farther into the opposing team's territory before they touch it. Kicking team touching the ball means it is "down" and that spot will be the starting point for the next drive.

    2. No. You can not tackle a receiver until after he has touched the ball or it is "pass interference"

    3. You use both hands and spin the ball as you snap it. That gives it a spiral spin.

  3. hold up, on a punt you can knock the guy silly as long as the punt returner doesn't call for a "fair catch". if they call for a fair catch, you cannot touch him at all. if you do, i believe it's a 10yard penalty. i hardly doubt that a guy will ever catch the kick returner because that's about 70yards away.

you can ABSOLUTELY NOT touch the receivers until a part of their body touches the ball. you can do a bump and run technique for only 5 yards then you must avoid contact with the receiver. in high school football, they are so nick-picky with that rule so my team didn't ever do it. once the ball is in the air in the 5 yards zone of bumping, you cannot bump him until the ball touches.

oh the snap..... i couldn't tell you. i've tried it so much and it is just a feel. it's like throwing a football. it's just a feel.

  4. no u cant tackle the reciever before he touches the ball cuz the refs and coaches will be on ur *** if u do. to do the perfect snap just throw the ball like a quarter back in between your legs but use two hands to get a tighter spiral and more power.

  5. It means that your team has good coverage and is able to stop the returner... u cannot tackle the receiver or else its interfernence but u can bump them before they get 5 yards from the line of scrimmage..... u put the laces facing your face and put back with a little wrist motion (takes a lot of practice)
