Nice suburb in East London?

I want to move from Australia to London, we are a young family, we have a 14month old baby, and my hubby is an engineer....any thoughts on a nice suitable location in East London?

Barkingside or some parts of Barking if you want a house.  If you would be happy with an apartment then Docklands, Spitalfields.

It depends where are will be working, how long you want to spend travelling to work, if you want open space or shops.
