Nikon Battery?

Question

ok so i need a new battery, and mine right now is the EN-EL3 7.4V 1500 mAh battery for the D70.

now ive been online looking for new batteries but i cant seem to find a 1500mAh battery. they all seem to be 1600mAh, 1800mAh, or 2000mAh.

now since the ampage is quite a significant jump from a 1500mAh to 2000. but when i type in Nikon D70 batteries into google or sumthing, these are the hits im getting. So does the mAh not matter? the way i would have figured it would be that a 2000mAh would like fry my camera processor.

pretty much what i am asking is if its ok to use a battery with a higher number Amp?

You must check Nikon website or call their help line number. They are very helpful people and will give you the proper advice

Go to Amazon.com and type your battery Name and model no. in search line "Nikon EN-EN3" Best to use BRANDED batteries to maintain warranty..plus they are much more reliable and least likely to explode...the higher mAh numbers denote higher charge capacity thus longer battery life

mAh stands for milliamp hours, which is a measure of how long the battery will LAST before requiring a recharge, not a measure of the amps coming out of the battery. It's not like a higher capacity battery will somehow 'over power' the camera and ruin it.

The ONLY difference is that your new battery will last longer.

Also the newer EN-EL3e batteries from the newer Nikon D80-D300 will also fit and work OK in the D70. So you can buy pretty much whatever capacity battery you want.

My only advice is stay genuine. I once put an after-market battery in my D80 and the battery died in about 3 months. I replaced it with a genuine over a year ago and have not had a problem since.

As far as fryage, I don't know. Consult your user manual for that, or contact the website. I apologize... but I hope finding your battery makes up for it.
