Nintendo ds lite charger stuck?

I have just bought a brand new nintendo ds lite. In the manual, it says to charge it before using it. So I left it to charge. When it had finished charging, I went to take the cable out from the nintendo but it is stuck! I was able to unplug it easily form the socket but the connection to the ds will not come undone! I have even tried yanking it. Am worried because I have just paid a lot of money for this gadget and am afraid the charger may be permanently stuck to the gameboy! does anyone have any ideas what to do? Thanks!

Take it back where ever you got it from. Immediately.
