No Internet!! HELP!?

Ok, I have a BT 2700HGV router and it is really easy to use.... it suddenly broke and I can't get on the internet anymore... so I'm using my old speedtouch USB modem, which isn't that fast and has to be reconnected every 5 mins. I just got a Linksys ADSL2 Router from Overclockers UK, and I set it all up and got about 2 - 3, maybe even 4 seconds of internet, until it cut off. It hasn't worked since, I have no idea what could be wrong with it, it reads the ADSL and its connected at 100Mbps, but the internet is constantly down!* can anyone help? If you need more info, just ask. Thanx in advance.

*All motherboard/network drivers have been installed and it doesn't seem to work on any other computers. The network is really important in my house aswell, as it's not just me who needs the internet.

  1. ********Please Give Me More Details On The Situation This Is Something I Might Know*********

Based on my knowledge that you've told me, I recommend you plug the router in and reset the router...

    • On The Back Of the Router there should be a tiny pin reset button, hold that down until all of the lights on the router blink.

Now all your network settings are reset.

your wireless network is no longer the name you've picked, it, it should go by the name linksys or default. Then log on to the network and see what happens.

If you give me more details on how it broke or whatever happened to it, I'm sure i can answer your question and get you setup again.

  2. First thing i would check is the Wiring for frays or breaks if all is well there. try a timeout in most router under PPPoE you set the timeout it auto reconnects for you. You can also set the switch from on demand to always on. this way the router does not disconnect

  3. Go back into the settings and change the keep alive settings. It sounds like you are losing the connection after the redial of 20 secs, which is giving you 20 secs of internet. Hope this works.

  4. i don't know much about this topic but one time i had a cable running to my wireless router and when i called my internet provider they came out and checked everything out and it turned out the cable wasn't "strong enough"? for the type of internet I was using?! So maybe try stuff like that, then I would call the internet provider. Usually they offer a 24 hour support service
