No pitching/all hitting team?

if you could put together a team of the best hitters ever (Ruth, Aaron, Mays, Mantle, etc...) but also got stuck with a pitching staff that are all players who really need to be pitching in the minor leagues, and had them all together for a 10 year period...

how many World Series would you win?

just curious what everyone thought...

thanks

  1. NONE.  You need pitching to win, the team woud probably never make the playoffs.  What happens when the hitters go into slumps, run into good pithching, or you get injuries?  The team would just not win.

  2. Probably none. Yuu may score a lot of runs but it means nothing if you allow a lot.

  3. 60's Dodgers are the opposite. Look at the Yanks this year. They have no pitching but a good offense and look at how there doing.

  4. Not many, if at all.  I've always been a firm believer in good pitching beats good hitting.

Even if you had dream lineup, a good pitcher would probably be able to contain them somewhat.

The bottom line is it doesn't matter if your team scores 10 runs if they're giving up 11.  They would lose as many games as they won.

BTW, the Dodgers won the 88 World Series.  The Tigers haven't won since 84.
