Non-Profit Fundraising?

Question

This fall I'm going to be a Junior in High School and in order to graduate from my high school, each student has to complete and pass a graduation project.

for my project I've created a team that will walk in the 2008 NAMI PA nami walk. But i need advice on who to ask for donations from. i know parents friends teachers.... family... ect. but buisness wise.

if you know of buisnesses that would be willing to donate or buisnesses that are usually reliable for helping out with things like this.

also ideas on how i can broadcast the event...

how can i let my community know what i'm doing and ask for their support without "begging" for money?

Write a letter to your local paper explaining what you are doing and inviting people to sponsor you....but make sure your letter is grammatically correct....ie: 'business' not buisness etc...
