What are the good suburbs to live within 60 miles NORTH side of Charlotte, NC? Just received an opportunity to continue career in Wilkesboro area, and would love to live somewhere in between of Wilkesboro and Charlotte. I thank you in advance for your kind response.

  1. depends on what you're looking to spend.  Davidson/Huntersville/Cornelius are all great spots around the lake.  Traffic can get a little congested at time, but that's standard around here.  If you want cookie cutter neighborhoods then University or South Charlotte are available.  Davidson especially has done a great job of growing but maintaining some of its character.  Denver is another nice place -- a little more rural but close to things and right on the lake.

  2. Depends, are you looking for suburbs or are you wanting something more urban?  The Northwest side of Charlotte is growing steadily, we call the neighboorhood University as UNC is located there.  However the Northeast is also prime, a little rural with a conglomoration of cities like Matthews, Indian Trail, and Waxhaw.  The city has been working on beltloop highway which is nearly completed on the west side.  It connects on the east side which makes for quick travel if you are traveling north to south and want to bypass all the downtown traffic.  Statesville is nearly the halfway point and it is a relatively small town, but very convenient to get to Charlotte from.  Kannapolis and Concord might be possibilites although many Nascar events are centered there so that may factor into your decision as well.
