Im trying to plot the course of the disused tunnel that runs between drayton park and finsbury park station part of the old Northern City Line. if someone who knows exactly where could give me google earth or London A-Z coordinates or a list of streets or landmarks that the tunnel passes over, it would be a great help.

  1. I have searched this site, which is pretty comprehensive on all disused underground constructions - http://www.subbrit.org.uk/ - but have not found anything.

Thiere is a street map showing lines in the Finsbury Park area on this site:- http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/ which discusses the plan to extend the Northern City line to Alexandra Palace.

If that does no assit could I suggest you join this Yahoo Group:- http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/Br...

which has a number of members who are experts on disused railway tunnels.

  2. I've just had a look at the Rail Atlas of Great Britain & Ireland.. 11th. Edition (the latest edition), and it shows the tunnel between Drayton Park & Finsbury Park, as being called "The Canonbury Tunnel", but it actually runs from between Canonbury & Highbury and Islington  to Finsbury Park.

Sorry, can't help you further, but I do hope someone else can.

  3. This is quite easy, because I looked at one of my old "A to Z" maps of London.

It appears to have left Drayton Park in a NNW direction, passing by Gillespie Park to the east and burrowing first beneath the Piccadilly Line near Arsenal Station) and then under Seven Sisters Road to emerge at Finsbury Park station.

If you go to the British Musum Reading Room, they will have old OS maps of the area. I would suggest the "Two and a half inch" series dated around 1955.
