Question:

Numbness in the back?

I have numbness/tightening in the muscle on the side of my back (latissimus dorsi). I don't have any pain in my back. I went to my doctor about this she said it appeared very localised like there had been trauma to the area but there hasn't been and the she basically shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know (not very helpful). I am going to a chiropractor in case there is a nerve trapped but wondering if it could be a sign of something more serious. Any thoughts? No other problems apart from this, it is more annoying than anything else.

  1. No, it does sound like a pinched nerve.  Hopefully the chiropractor can help.  If not, you might want to consider a neurologist.
