Question:

Nursing home understaffed on weekends????

I work at a nursing home. On weekends we usually have 1 CNA for every 20-24 residents (approx.) and 1 aid doing showers. I think this is very understaffed but I don't know what to do about it. I don't feel my residents are receiving the care they deserve but any complaints to the employer only result in blaming the CNA. I don't know if they are intentionally understaffing but I don't think they are trying to do anything about it either.

What are the staffing requirements for nursing and rehabilitation facilities and what can be done if they are not meeting the requirements?

  1. Contact your state government that is suppose to inspect nursing homes in your area.   Turn them in w/out giving your name or using your personal phones.   Yes, that is WAY understaffed and it's not safe for the workers or patients.
