Straight just reminded me of a real Bar Rule Confusion

2 Weeks ago A player broke the rack and made 2 stripes and 1 solid ball took the stripes ran 3 more and missed The other guy ran out the 6 solid balls and made a good shot on the 8 to win--the other player said he did not get a run out because he had made a ball for him.

What would you have called it???

No big deal but its a small tourn 12-18 plyers I give a $20 bar tab if they make the 8 on the break or a run out

The Bar owner or Tournament Director should always go over the rules before the event begins. If he/she didn't say anything about a complete group of balls had to be made for a run-out, then the 6-ball run would be considered a run-out.

Sounds to me that a sharking was taking place and someone was trying to save a buck.

When I run my tournaments I gather all players around a table to witness the draw and go over the rules. Then I ask if there are questions or situations that need clarified? Once the players are satisfied we begin. Because different locations sometimes go by slightly changes in the rules, I want all questions clearly answered and understood

Wow.  I've never heard of anyone even trying to pull that c**p before.  Even being a fairly laid back guy, I would seriously consider detaching that guy's retinas with my cue.  It never matters what is pocketed on the break, except in this situation, the 8-ball.  Ridiculous.  Sorry, I'm a little tipsy and ornery at the moment.  I had a beautiful break and run at the bar tonight and I ran the solids even though I made a stripe on the break.  Them's the rules.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

Really crazy....but there will always be a wise bird.....like me to come back with a smartass answer to the question......you could argue that a run out would be all 7 balls plus the 8....truly a little "CS" but that is why they have rules.....little while back I got this "old" pool hustler out on the table....my shot rode the rail as it went into the pocket and he called a foul on me for not calling the bank/rail......these rules are as we all know referred to as "bar rules"....and often time because of the situation the bar rule rules or you will find yourself either with the bar on you or you on top of it .....laid out!......you say something about BCA and "wiseguys" take you out for being a "wiseguy".....that is why I stay out of bars!......I don't care if the rules are laid out.....something will still pop up when there is money involved.....even $20!!

Oh no...I disagree for once...Only because I've never heard of acknowledging just a run out (not break and run)...But I guess if you were paying for a player to win in one turn, then yes, I'd say he did it...Hmm...interesting...
