ok my friend & her family r legal immigrants & here brother was born here. & they believe that bcuz her uncle married a citizen that he is now a citzen. i mean it drives me nuts cuz im like 99.9% sure that its not true. cuz my mother is a legal alien & my dad is a natural born citzen, & mom isnt a citzen,but shes tellin me that this is a new thing. her uncle got married last year & my parents got married 20 years ago

Your friend's idea is Totally NOT True.

There no such thing as automatic citizen. Her uncle has to become Permanent Resident (green card holder) first to be eligible to file for US Citizenship in 3-5 years.

Her uncle's US Citizen wife has to file I-130 Petition with uncle's I-485 Register to Permanent Resident or Adjustment of Status along all other forms, such as I-131, I-765, I-693, I-864 Affidavit.

not true. One still has to obtain citizenship the same way everyone else did. Go through the immigration process, pay the fees, and swear your alliance to this country.

not true.  your friend's uncle's wife needs to sponsor him in order for him to start the process of becoming a greencard holder and then a citizen.

Marrying an american citizen, does not make you a citizen,,,You must go through the same legal process as everyone...5 years as a Legal Immigrant ( Green Card ) then you can apply for citizenship..

thats not true; you are not a citizen just because you married one. you have to have legal documents.

no just because your uncle married a citizen means he is a citizen. you haveta be born to parents who are citizens to be a citizen, or become a citizen through immigration laws. you cant just marry someone. could u imagine what would happen if you could? people would pay to marry you to become a citizen and then just get a divorce. it wouldnt work.
