I am six weeks into my new job and I have been asked my my boss to find myself a company car, do some test drives, get some quotes etc... obviously i have a budget to work to so i cant go too mad, but i want the best for the money.. but i also want the biggest TD engine, top spec, possibly with any extras that might be available

All this is much fun, but a bit of a bind as well, as i will be doing A LOT of miles and i want to make sure i get the right one.

As a Golf driver i am biased, but i test drove a new GT Sport 140 and luurved it!, I have also tested an Octavia VRS (poor mans Golf i know but hey!)

I am also enquiring about an Astra Sporthatch TD, a Mazda 3 TD, and a Seat Leon FR 2l TD sport.

Would also like to know where i could get the cheapest quotes from...

Come on, I know you lads will have some opinions....

and yes, i am a girl racer in case you were wondering!!

  1. Get an Alpha Romeo, they look very cool. And as people say they are unreliable etc. you need not worry as it belongs to your company.

I've always wanted an Alpha 147 (5 door), it is about the same size as a mazda 3.

If you had a rediculously large budget, an Alpha Brera is lovely.

  2. It`s very exciting when you boss tells you that, but beware the taxman.

A company car is no longer a perk and your tax code will plummet.

Suggest you buy your own car and come to a deal about the mileage allowance etc.

My son in law has done this, he drives a Mazda MX5 and the allowance he gets for his business mileage pays the expenses for buying and running it.
